A positive aspect of the 2019 Honda HR-V is fuel efficiency. Its equipped with a standard 1.8-liter In-Line 4 Cylinder engine, which promises not only fuel economy but also fantastic performance. You'll love the 141-horsepower engine which can give you around 127 pound-feet of torque and redlines at 6700 rpm.

The 2018 Honda HR-V, meanwhile, also has a standard 1.8 liter 4-cylinder engine and a 141-horsepower rating. Its automatic transmission is available in EX and LX trims and standard in the EX-L Navi.

Both models are best suited for city streets and while not the fastest subcompact crossover, are still fun to drive.

What's the Difference in Appearance?

The HR-V lineup has been expanded for 2019 with the addition of a new Touring model and a Sports trim level. The Touring model has its styling treatments on the exterior, a dark chrome trim, and multi-element LED headlights. The Sports trim, meanwhile, lives up to its name with its honeycomb grille, blackout trim, and 18-inch wheels.

The 2018 HR-V has a sleeker Solid Wing Face design, which is an upgrade from the previous HR-V. It has a fresh set of alloy wheels and is available in Tafetta White, Passion Red Pearl, Modern Steel Metallic, and Lunar Silver Metallic.

With the launch of the 2019 model, three new paint options have been added, namely Platinum White Pearl, Midnight Amethyst Metallic, and Orange Burst Metallic.

Both models blend SUV-like dimensions with coupe-like looks and the comfort of riding a family sedan.

What's the Difference in Features?

Unlike the 2018 Honda HR-V, the 2019 version now has physical volume know and both the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Honda has been listening to motorists who have commented that raising or lowering the volume level using the central console was a bit of a complicated task, thus the addition of the physical knob.

The 2019 Honda HR-V also has Honda's Display Audio touchscreen system. Considered its biggest addition is the Honda Sensing, which is available on EX trims and up. Sensing is Honda's suite of active and passive safety systems that includes adaptive cruise control; lane keep assist, auto brake, and forward collision warning. The Touring trim's navigation system is more enhanced, with essential destinations and interests shown in 3D.

The 2019 model has a retuned CVT, which stimulates shifts to make it feel like a traditional automatic transmission. According to Honda, the improved CVT will try to maintain lower rpm and will raise rpm on deceleration to offer engine braking.
