What's New for the 2019 Honda Civic?

Whether you prefer the sleek sedan, the workhorse hatchback, or the fun-to-drive coupe, there's no question that the Honda Civic is an icon among compact cars. If you're shopping for a new ride, here's what you need to know about the exciting 2019 updates to this classic.

The Civic's powertrain lineup has been shuffled a bit for the new year. Models equipped with the optional turbo-four are now available only with the continuously variable transmission (CVT), which operates like an automatic.

Sedan and coupe models have been treated to a reshaped front end, which provides a clean, modern appearance. You'll also notice a new front bumper, rear bumper, and chrome-accented front grille. Depending on the trim, you'll also get new halogen or LED headlights.

The sedan and coupe are now available in a new Sports trim, which comes with a 158-horsepower inline-four and sport-tuned suspension. They are also distinguished with 18-inch wheels, body kit, rear spoiler, center exhaust, and blacked-out front end.

All Civic trims except the base model now feature the updated HondaLink infotainment system, which has a 7-inch touchscreen and a volume knob instead of the slider features in last year's model. It also supports smartphone connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Honda Sensing system is now standard on all trims as well. This suite of driver assistance features includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist.
